eurovision 2009

I can't even begin to tell you how much I love the Eurovision Song Contest – family legend has it that, at 6years old, my mother plonked me in front of the TV- almost when I learned to remain mute at least for 2 hours . My father used to bring the refreshments and mum always had a special course to serve. The first speciality I can now recall is the strawberry jelly coated tart. I still remember its taste.
Looking back in time almost nothing has changed in my attitudes towards this song contest however that doesnt count for the contest rules and the progress my country made during the past 5 years .
It is absolutely ironic, somewhat sarcastic to watch the voting session and I LOVE it. Ive always had fun guessing which country will vote off for its neighbour country or which one will crown its strategic alliance for political reasons.
This year I watched 5-6 countries' performances but during the voting session I caught up with rest to make comments on. Here we go:
France:
A velvet sound lady- Patricia Kaas sang in French (I didnt understand a single word -except for some basic predictable words) beautifully however it was obvious that the song was above eurovision standards and didnt contain musical diversity, fusion or any sort of inspiring mood lifting beats.
Azerbaijan:
It's Aysel and Arash - AKA Dr. Alban and one of the the pussycat dolls, who appeared to have tucked the front of her dress into her knickers. They have three similarly scanty backing singers in gold leggings. It was an entirely cheesy tune, and appears to only have two lines of lyrics, repeated one after the other. The result they received was quite surprising, though.
Germany:
a big swing band singing someone called Miss Kiss Kiss Bang. Male vocal was wearing silver trousers and an open black shirt and his dancers dance in their pants! He had Dita Von Teese on stage with him! How small is her waist? It was more like a cabaret show from the 1940s and ttaht lady with small waist reminded me of Betty Boop :;)

..................

Well after a comedy of backscratching strategy during voting ( This year 42 countries voted 25 of which performed in the contest and Turkey received high points majorly from the voter countries none of which was its neighbour , how unsupportive indeed!! I daresay some rules must be definetely changed ) Norway won the contest with an appalling high total point, followed by Iceland ( the blonde female vocal was astoundingly beautiful as if she ran away from the fairy tales),Azerbaijan and Turkey.
Looking forward to the next Eurovision song contest now and I know the same comedy will be awaiting us since the Eurovision never fails to entertain. : )
